Canonical variate analysis
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001595
A multivariate technique that looks for combinations of two sets of variables, formed as weighted sums, that are most strongly correlated with each other. The first pair of canonical variables has the highest correlation, and each later pair is uncorrelated with the earlier ones. The same name is also given to a discriminant technique that maximizes the ratio of between-group to within-group variance.
