Cervical rib

A supernumerary rib that arises from the seventh cervical vertebra, located above the first thoracic rib. This extra rib can be unilateral or bilateral and varies in size from a small bony prominence to a fully formed rib articulating with the sternum. Its presence can compress nearby nerves and blood vessels, leading to a condition known as thoracic outlet syndrome.
