Accessory rib

A supernumerary rib that develops in addition to the normal twelve pairs of ribs. This extra rib can originate from a cervical vertebra in the neck or a lumbar vertebra in the lower back. Cervical ribs are more prevalent and can sometimes compress nerves or blood vessels, leading to neurological or vascular symptoms.
