A decimal prefix in the International System of Units (SI) representing a factor of 10^-1, or one-tenth of the base unit. It is used to form submultiples of SI units, such as a deciliter (dL) which is one-tenth of a liter. The prefix is derived from the Latin word 'decimus' meaning tenth.
