Ecological epidemiology

The use of epidemiological methods on nonhuman populations, such as fish or wildlife at contaminated sites, to identify the causes of observed adverse effects and to measure how frequent and widespread they are. It is mainly retrospective, starting from observed damage and working back to the exposures responsible, as in retrospective ecological risk assessment.
