Expert system
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004230
A computer program that emulates the problem-solving and reasoning capabilities of a specialist within a particular field. It consists of a knowledge base containing facts and heuristics, and an inference engine that applies this knowledge to user queries. In computational drug design, these systems are applied to tasks like predicting a molecule's lipophilicity (log P), metabolic fate, or potential toxicity based on its structure.
