Log P
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006749
The logarithm (base 10) of the partition coefficient, which is the ratio of the concentration of an un-ionized compound in an organic phase (typically n-octanol) to its concentration in an aqueous phase. It is a measure of a compound's lipophilicity or hydrophobicity. Log P values are widely used in medicinal chemistry to predict drug absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion.
