Logarithmic decrement
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006750
A measure of the damping in an oscillating system, defined as the natural logarithm of the ratio of two successive amplitudes in a free damped oscillation. It quantifies the rate at which oscillations decay over time. For polymers, it is often used to characterize viscoelastic properties and energy dissipation.
