Field level
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004411
A logarithmic measure of a field quantity, such as electric field strength or sound pressure, expressed relative to a reference value. The field level, L_F, is calculated as ln(F/F_0), where F is the field quantity and F_0 is the reference value. This quantity is dimensionless, but it is given the unit neper (Np) to indicate its logarithmic nature.
