Field-effect transistor
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004412
A semiconductor device that controls the flow of current between two electrodes, the source and the drain, by applying a voltage to a third electrode, the gate. The gate voltage creates an electric field that modulates the conductivity of a channel in the semiconductor material. In organic field-effect transistors (OFETs), the semiconductor is a conjugated polymer or small molecule, and the device is used to study charge transport properties.
