Ion gate
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006083
A device in a mass spectrometer that controls the transmission of ions by applying a pulsed electric potential. By switching the potential on and off at specific times, the gate allows ions to pass through only during selected time intervals. An ion gate is distinct from a mass gate, which selects ions based on their mass-to-charge ratio rather than their arrival time.
