Mass gate

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006981

An ion gate that transmits only ions within a selected m/z range and deflects or blocks all others, so that chosen precursor ions pass on to a later stage such as a collision cell. In time-of-flight instruments it is built as a pulsed deflector that opens only while the ions of interest pass through it.
