Chemically-sensitive field effect transistor

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001979

A type of field-effect transistor where the gate electrode is replaced by a chemically sensitive membrane or layer that interacts with specific chemical species in a solution or gas. This interaction causes a change in the electrical properties of the transistor, such as the threshold voltage, which can be measured. These devices are used as sensors for detecting ions or molecules.
