Torsion pendulum
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012125
An instrument used to measure the viscoelastic properties of materials, particularly polymers, by observing the damped oscillations of a sample under torsional stress. A sample, typically a rod or strip, is clamped at one end and subjected to a twisting force at the other, which is then released. The period and decay of the oscillations provide information about the material's shear modulus and damping characteristics.
