Free oscillation

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004656

The oscillatory motion of a system that occurs after an initial disturbance, without any continuous external driving force. The system oscillates at its natural frequencies, which are determined by its intrinsic properties like mass and stiffness. Damping forces gradually reduce the amplitude of these oscillations over time.
