Hansch-Fujita π-constant
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005093
A substituent constant that quantifies the lipophilicity or hydrophobicity of a chemical group relative to hydrogen. It is derived from the partition coefficient (log P) of a substituted compound compared to its unsubstituted parent compound. A positive π-constant indicates increased lipophilicity, while a negative value indicates increased hydrophilicity.
