Hansch constant
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005091
A parameter that quantifies the lipophilicity of a substituent in a molecule, derived from partition coefficients between an organic solvent (typically 1-octanol) and water. It is used in quantitative structure-activity relationships (QSAR) to correlate a molecule's structure with its biological activity. A positive value indicates greater lipophilicity, while a negative value suggests increased hydrophilicity.
