Global distillation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004907
The process by which volatile and semi-volatile chemicals, particularly persistent organic pollutants, are transported from warmer regions to colder regions of the Earth. Substances evaporate in warm climates, travel through the atmosphere, and then condense and deposit in cooler areas, such as the poles. This phenomenon leads to the accumulation of these pollutants in Arctic and Antarctic ecosystems.
