Simultaneous steam distillation-solvent extraction

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010885

A combined extraction technique that simultaneously performs steam distillation and solvent extraction to isolate volatile and semi-volatile compounds from a sample matrix. The sample is heated with water to generate steam, which carries volatile analytes into a condenser where they are simultaneously extracted into an immiscible organic solvent. This method is particularly effective for isolating essential oils and flavor compounds.
