Isometric
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006206
Describing a pair of molecular entities that coincide exactly when overlaid, or that coincide after one is reflected in a mirror, which covers identical molecules and enantiomers. Entities that cannot be matched this way, such as diastereomers or constitutional isomers like ethanol and dimethyl ether, are anisometric. Isometric entities have identical sets of interatomic distances.
