Homomorphic
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005380
Describing ligands or groups that are superposable, meaning one can be made to coincide exactly with the other, as with the identical chlorine atoms of carbon tetrachloride or the two hydrogens of dichloromethane. Ligands of the same constitution that are not superposable, such as the enantiomorphic groups in a meso compound, are heteromorphic instead. Homotopic ligands are always homomorphic.
