Lethal synthesis
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006525
The biochemical conversion of a relatively harmless compound into a toxic metabolite within a living organism. This process often involves enzymatic reactions that transform the parent compound into a more reactive or biologically active form. An example is the conversion of fluoroacetate to fluorocitrate, which inhibits the Krebs cycle.
