Bioactivation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001239
The metabolic process by which a less toxic or inactive chemical compound is converted into a more toxic or biologically active metabolite within a living organism. This transformation often involves enzymatic reactions that introduce or expose reactive functional groups. Such processes can lead to adverse health effects, including carcinogenicity or organ damage.
