Biomodification

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001301

The modification of a substance's chemical makeup or physical behaviour by the action of living organisms or their components, such as enzymes. The change can alter the substance's bioavailability and toxicity, leading to either detoxification or bioactivation. It is wider than biotransformation, which concerns chemical conversion alone.
