Biomolecule

Any molecule that is present in living organisms, including large macromolecules as well as smaller molecules such as primary and secondary metabolites, lipids, or neurotransmitters. These substances participate in the metabolic and signaling pathways of life. The term encompasses a vast array of organic compounds, from simple sugars and amino acids to complex enzymes and nucleic acids.
