Linearity of a measuring system

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006636

The extent to which the response of an analytical measuring system is directly proportional to the concentration or amount of the analyte over a specified range. A linear system yields a calibration curve that approximates a straight line. This characteristic is typically assessed by statistical methods, such as regression analysis, to determine the correlation coefficient.
