Linearised multistage model
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006635
A mathematical model used in quantitative risk assessment to extrapolate cancer risks from high-dose animal studies to low-dose human exposures. It assumes that at low doses, the dose-response curve for carcinogenicity is linear and passes through the origin, implying no threshold for carcinogenic effects. This model is often used by regulatory agencies to set acceptable exposure limits for carcinogens.
