Least squares regression
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006503
A statistical method used to find the best-fitting line or curve to a set of data points by minimizing the sum of the squares of the residuals, which are the differences between the observed and predicted values. This technique is widely applied in analytical chemistry for calibration curve construction and for modeling relationships between variables. It provides estimates for the parameters of a linear or non-linear model.
