Linkage analysis
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006647
A genetic method used to map the location of genes on chromosomes by observing how frequently two genetic markers or a marker and a disease trait are inherited together. It relies on the principle that genes located physically close to each other on a chromosome are less likely to be separated by recombination during meiosis. The strength of linkage is quantified by the logarithm of the odds (LOD) score.
