Mapping

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006952

The process of determining the relative positions of genes or other identifiable sequences on a chromosome or DNA molecule. This involves creating a genetic map that shows the order and spacing of these markers. Physical mapping techniques use molecular biology methods to directly locate sequences, while genetic mapping relies on recombination frequencies between markers.
