Physical map
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008950
A representation of the physical locations of genes or other DNA sequences on a chromosome. This map is constructed by determining the distances between genetic markers in terms of base pairs, rather than recombination frequencies. Techniques like restriction mapping and fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) are used to create these maps.
