Expressed sequence tag
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004251
A short, single-pass sequence of complementary DNA (cDNA) that represents a portion of an expressed gene. These tags are generated from mRNA and are used to identify gene transcripts, map genes, and discover new genes. They serve as markers for active genes within a genome.
