Restriction fragment length polymorphism

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010277

A variation in the length of DNA fragments produced by digestion with a specific restriction endonuclease, due to differences in the DNA sequence at or between restriction sites. These polymorphisms are used as genetic markers for mapping and identifying individuals. The fragments are separated and visualized using gel electrophoresis.
