Matched control

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007019

A subject in a study who is selected to be similar to a case subject with respect to one or more characteristics that might influence the outcome, such as age, sex, or socioeconomic status. This method is used in epidemiological studies, particularly case-control studies, to reduce confounding and improve the comparability between groups. Matching aims to isolate the effect of the exposure being investigated by controlling for other variables.
