Target population

The collection of individuals, whether human, animal, or other organisms, intended to be the subject of a study, risk assessment, or regulatory action. This group is defined by specific characteristics such as age, sex, location, health status, or exposure to a particular substance. For example, a toxicological study might define its target population as children under five living in a specific industrial area.
