Midstream sampling

A method of collecting a urine sample where the initial and final portions of the urine stream are discarded, and only the middle portion is collected. This technique aims to minimize contamination of the sample by bacteria from the urethra or skin. It is commonly used for urine cultures to diagnose urinary tract infections.
