Natural photosynthesis
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007785
The biological process that converts light energy into chemical energy, which is stored in the bonds of carbohydrate molecules. Organisms like plants, algae, and cyanobacteria use pigments such as chlorophyll to capture photons, driving a series of reactions that consume carbon dioxide and water. This process releases oxygen as a byproduct and forms the foundation for most of the energy in Earth's biosphere.
