Nyquist criterion
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008167
A principle in signal processing that states that to accurately reconstruct a continuous signal from its sampled version, the sampling frequency must be at least twice the highest frequency component present in the original signal. If the sampling rate is below this threshold, aliasing will occur, leading to distortion of the reconstructed signal. This is also known as the Nyquist-Shannon sampling theorem.
