Criterion validity

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002676

The extent to which a measure or test correlates with an external criterion or gold standard that it is supposed to predict or measure. This type of validity is assessed by comparing the results of the new measure with those of an established, reliable measure. For instance, a new diagnostic test's criterion validity would be determined by its agreement with a confirmed diagnostic method.
