Polyelectrolyte complex
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009133
A substance formed by the non-covalent association of two or more oppositely charged polyelectrolytes. The interaction is primarily electrostatic, leading to the formation of a new material with properties distinct from its constituent polymers. These complexes can be stoichiometric, where charge neutrality is achieved, or non-stoichiometric, resulting in a net charge and excess polyelectrolyte in the surrounding medium.
