Ionic bond
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006106
An electrostatic attraction between oppositely charged ions, formed when one or more electrons are transferred from one atom to another. This type of bond typically occurs between a metal and a nonmetal, resulting in the formation of a crystal lattice structure. The strength of an ionic bond is influenced by the charge and size of the ions involved.
