Pseudo-ionic polymerization
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009637
A polymerization in which each monomer is inserted into a polar bond at the active chain end without any ions being generated. Most pseudo-ionic polymerizations propagate through concerted mechanisms involving four or more centres, and the term is used most often for ring-opening polymerization. The active end is a polar covalent bond, so the kinetics can resemble those of an ionic polymerization.
