Coordination polymerization
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002560
A type of chain polymerization where the propagating species is a monomer coordinated to a transition metal center. The monomer then inserts into the metal-polymer bond, leading to chain growth. This method is widely used for synthesizing polyolefins with specific stereoregularity, such as isotactic polypropylene.
