Critical ion-concentration in an ionomer

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002689

The specific concentration of ionic groups within an ionomer at which a distinct phase separation or microphase separation begins to occur, leading to the formation of ionic aggregates. Below this concentration, the ionic groups are dispersed, but above it, their electrostatic interactions drive their clustering. This concentration is influenced by the dielectric constant of the polymer matrix and the nature of the ionic groups.
