Polyelectrolyte gel
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009134
A crosslinked polymer network composed of polyelectrolyte chains that swell significantly in a solvent due to the osmotic pressure of counter-ions. The swelling behavior is highly sensitive to changes in pH, ionic strength, and temperature. These gels are often used in superabsorbent materials, sensors, and controlled release systems.
