Probability density

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009483

A function whose integral over a given range gives the probability that a continuous random variable falls within that range. It describes the relative likelihood for a random variable to take on a given value. For example, in quantum mechanics, the square of the wavefunction represents the probability density of finding an electron at a particular point in space.
