Reaction path degeneracy
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009969
The number of equivalent reaction paths that connect a reactant state to a product state through a transition state. This degeneracy arises when multiple symmetry-related routes exist for the same chemical transformation. It is a factor in statistical theories of reaction rates, influencing the overall rate constant.
