Rest point
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010273
The reading on the pointer scale of a balance at the instant the swinging beam has come to a halt. It may be taken with empty pans, which gives the zero point, or with a load on the pan. In precise weighing it is calculated from the turning points of the oscillating pointer instead of waiting for the beam to settle.
