Rice-Ramsperger-Kassel theory
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010350
A statistical theory that describes the unimolecular decomposition of molecules in the gas phase. It assumes that energy is rapidly redistributed among all vibrational modes of a molecule before dissociation occurs. This theory provides a framework for calculating rate constants based on the internal energy of the molecule and the properties of its transition state.
