Phase-space theory
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008750
A statistical theory used in chemical kinetics to predict the product state distributions and reaction rates for elementary reactions. It assumes that all accessible states in the product phase space are equally probable, subject to conservation laws for energy and angular momentum. This theory is particularly applicable to reactions without a potential energy barrier.
